Jamaica’s Jason Young runs 19.86 (200m) in Lucerne (see video)

Twenty-one year old Jason Young of Jamaica ran a personal best 19.86 second (+1.6 w/s) to win the men’s 200m A-race in Lucerne, Switzerland today. Young, a member of the Racers Track Club smashed his previous personal best time of 20.42 seconds that he established at the 2012 Jamaican Olympic trials on June 30^th. Young finished ahead of Racers teammate Warren Weir (20.11) and Trinidad & Tobago’s Rondel Sorrillo (20.40). With this impressive performance, Young becomes he newest member of the sub-20 200m club, joining Warren Weir who achieved that honor at the Jamaican Trials  Olympic Trials when he ran 19.99 seconds. Despite his impressive performance today, Young will not be representing Jamaica at the London Games because he finished in 7^th place in the 200m at the Jamaican Trials in 20.71 seconds behind winner Blake (19.80), Bolt (19.83) and Weir (20.03). Only the top 3 finishers are selected.
