Jamaica
  • Usain Bolt involved in car accident in Kingston in early June; suffered minor injuries
  • Andrew Riley won the unprecedented men’s 100m and 110m hurdles titles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, then went on to sign a lucrative deal with PUMA in June
  • Yohan Blake won the sprint double titles (100, 200m) at Jamaican Olympic Trials in June/July

  • Keshorn Walcott took javelin gold in London with a national record throw of  84.58m after winning the IAAF World Junior javelin title in Barcelona in July with a then personal best throw of 78.64m
  • Lalonde Gordon secured 2 bronze medals for Trinidad at the London Olympics
  • T&T men’s 4x4 relay team established a national record time of  2:59.40 in London
  • Kelly-Ann Baptiste ran season best  10.86 seconds in the 100m, just outside her national record time  of 10.84 seconds
  • Keston Bledman ran  9.89 seconds in the 100m, the  fastest time by a T&T athlete in 2012
  • The men’s 4x100 relay team (Keston Bledman, Marc Burns, Emmanuel  Callender and Richard Thompson) took the bronze medal at the London Olympics in 38.12 seconds
Bahamas
  • Bahamas named Auburn University assistant coach Henry Rolle as  relay coordinator in  March 2012
  • Michael Mathieu set Bahamas men’s 200m national record 20.16 seconds erasing the old mark of 20.21 seconds
  • Anthonique Strachan took the sprint double titles in the  100m (11.20) & 200m (22.53)  at the IAAF World Junior Championship in Barcelona in July
  • Bahamas men’s 4x4 relay team took gold in London in national record  time 2:56.72
  • Bahamas selected to host the 2013 CARIFTA Games, and the first IAAF World Relay Championships in  May 2014
Grenada
  • Kirani James won the 400m Olympic title in 43.94 seconds, the fasted time ever by a Caribbean athlete
  • Grenada to renamed its  National Stadium after Kirani James
  • Sports Ambassador Kirani James return to Grenada  after his gold-winning performance in London was broadcast live over the internet
  • Kirani James won the inaugural  Caribbean Spirit of Sports Award in Trinidad
St Kitts & Nevis
  • Kim Collin sent home from the Olympic Games in London for violating team rules
  • St Kitts sprinter Tameka Williams ‘Madam Speedy’ was sent home from the Olympic Games for admitted use of a "banned substance" The SKNOC defended its action as a precautionary move
Positive Drug Test
  • Ricardo Cunningham, the  Jamaican 800m national champion tested positive at the Jamaican Olympic Trials for pseudoephedrine (PSE), which is  found in most cold medicines
  • Jamaica's 400m runner Dominique Blake tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine
  • Semoy Hackett (T&T)/ LSU tested positive for methylhexaneamine at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championship
