Jura Levy, Shaunae Miller shine in collegiate meets

Jura Levy, a senior at Oklahoma Baptist University established a personal best time of 7.25 in the 60m at the Tyson Invitational, held at the University of Arkansas over the weekend. Levy finished in second place behind University of Central Florida’s Octavious Freeman who won the event in 7.20 seconds. Levy’s time of 7.25 erased her previous best mark of 7.31 which she established at the same venue a year ago. Levy, the Vere Technical graduate is off to a great start to her 2013 season. She has represented Jamaica at 2011 Daegu World Championships in the 100m, but failed to make the Jamaican team to the 2012 London Olympics.   Shaunae Miller runs 6^th fastest 200m (23.26) University of Georgia’s freshman Shaunae Miller nearly set her second school record of the season, this time in the 200m at the VT Elite Meet, in Blacksburg, Virginia on Saturday.  The Nassau, Bahamas, native took off and finished in 23.26 to win her event with the second-fastest time in school history and the fastest for the Lady Bulldogs since 1996.  The 200m school record of 23.17 was established back by in 1996 by another Bahamian, Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie. Shaunae won her event ahead the Florida duo of Kyra Jefferson (23.43) and Ebony Eutsey (23.63). At the Akron Invitational last weekend Feb 2, Shaunae took the 200m (23.99) and the 400m (52.96) titles.
