Delano Williams Ready for the Next Level

“I am feeling fatigue, this is my second time running in this type of weather, I just wanted to get out there and run with my teammates at Munro College for the last time,” said Delano Williams, the reigning 200m IAAF World Junior champion. Despite the horrendous weather condition at the New Diamond League meet at Icahn Stadium last Saturday (May 25), Delano lead his Munro College teammates to victory in the high school boys 4x400 relay a time of 3:14.79 ahead of Manchester high school (3:19.06). Nineteen year old Williams has just completed a superb 2013 season highlighted by his capturing the sprint double titles at the Jamaican Boys and Girls Championship in the 100m (10.28) and 200m (20.27) and then leading his Munro College team to a season best 3:09.21 in the 4x400m relays. Williams who was born in the Turks and Caicos Island and attends school in Jamaica has yet to decide which country he will be representing as a professional. “I am considering Great Britain, but I still haven’t decided as yet. In two weeks time everybody will know who I will be representing,” said Delano. No matter where he ends up, Delano has the talent and the potential to have an immediate impact on the sports of track and field. His versatility is evident as he excels in the 100m, 200m as well as the 400m. As for as his immediate plans are concerned, Delano said “I will be getting back into training and I am looking forward to running some Diamond League races. I will be starting my professional life, so I have to learn to take my time and be patient.” Delano, who is set to join Racers Track Club in October, said that his coach is working on preparing him for the World Championship in Moscow this summer. He did not specify which event(s) he would be competing  in Moscow.  However, his  season best time of  20.27 seconds in the 200m  meets  the A standard of 20.52 seconds.
